Its also a good idea to save these settings in winuae under 'configurations' Then you can mount WHDLoad.lha and the Zip Images and install those to your new virtual HDD. Now double click on 'install3.1' then 'install' choosing your language.įollow the installer and once you are done eject the workbench disk and restart. When the workbench screen loads you should have an icon DH0:NDOS right click on it hold and choose from the options bar at the top of the screen 'icon' and 'format disk.' Then quick format it and call it Workbench Now go back to 'quickstart' menu and 'select disk image' and choose your Workbench 3.1 Install ADF and then hit 'Start' Once you've done that add it in the path section at the top of the window and enter DH0 in the 'Device' field. In the 'New Hard Disk Image File' section at the bottom specify a size in MB lets start with 512mb and hit 'Create' and save it as workbench.hdf somewhere you'll be able to find it
Now back in the hardware menu go to 'hard drives' and 'add hardfile' Now go to ROM in the Hardware menu and select your image of the 3.1 rom from the right window under 'System Rom Settings' and 'Main Rom File' Now start up winuae, choose A1200 in the basic settings (emulated hardware) You'll need a set of workbench ADF's 3.1 pref and the 3.1 rom 'google' is your friend. Hopefully someone can link you to a good FAQ or Guide, i'll try to list the basic steps but really I'm not really all that good at this sort of thing You need to setup a basic workbench and inststall WHDLoad then you can mount the zip file as a drive and run the game from the icon or transfer lots of WHDLoad pre installed games to your virtual hard drive to run. Thanks again for the help, sorry i'm such a newbie to WinUAE and HD images, please bear with me!! Thanks for the HD version, the only prob is i dont know what i'm doing with HD images! I added the zip file as a HD in WinUAE and gave it the name x, then in Amiga DOS i typed x: and got an error - i'm no expert (to say the least!) with the HD images, am I doing something dumb? I also got the message 'insert volume L' or something along those lines at one point. Right, I've tried both methods and still failing misserably! Sorry you'll have to work with me here I seem to be a bit slow with WinUAE!!įirstly I tried the disk methods again, i chose the install option then put a scenary disk in and typed df0 next to the scenary option and it then asked for the MASTER disk?! put the main disk back in and it kept asking me for it, then when i chose cancel it crashed! I also tried putting the disk in df1 and following this method and still failed - the amiga reset again! Have i got the WinUAE settings wrong?! Does it sound like a dodgy version of the roms?
